Genesis joined Domus in 2011 as a counselor at Domus’ Chester Addison Community Center (CACC), making sure neighborhood youth had a safe, welcoming enrichment program after school and during the summer. She also served as head counselor at CACC, then became a Domus Knights family advocate. “I love the connections I make with the youth and families at Domus. I want better for them and the community overall. It’s important to me to support our black and brown youth to surpass narrow, inaccurate stereotypes. Our work breaks cycles of bias and reshapes expectations so young people are seen in their full humanity. Supporting students who—like me—are Hispanic/Latinx educationally is important. Many of them come from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds that are often underrepresented or misunderstood in educational settings.” Genesis enjoys playing soccer, dancing, and watching anime.
